The CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood is the qualification you need to start a rewarding career in childhood education. You will then have an opportunity to progress to the CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. The demand for childcare workers is increasing, with many opportunities within this area.

This course is for anyone who is interested in working as an early childhood educator. It is also for those already working in the area needing to formalise or upgrade their qualifications. There are no formal pre-requisites to enter this course.

Course Details

  • Prerequisites: There are no formal entry requirements
  • Duration: 5 to 6 months
  • Theory: 17 units in total (15 Core units and 2 Elective units)
  • Delivery: Online with ongoing support from your Trainer/Assessor
  • First Aid and CPR training included
  • Assessments: Written assessments and practical assessments, no essays or exams
  • Extra support: Lecture recordings and extra resources available for each unit
  • Practical: 160 hours of Vocational Placement require
    • Please review the attached information regarding the vocational placement requirements
    • Child Care centres will require evidence of Blue Card
    • Please be aware that that manual handling tasks may be required.
  • Next Intake: Course runs on a rolling intake, you can begin at any time

Training Tailor Made (TTM) are Skills Assure Suppliers of QLD Government Funding. Please contact us to establish your eligibility for funding. A number of types of funding are available, listed below:

  • Free (Job Trainer, or Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW)
  • $50 non-concessional (Certificate 3 Guarantee)
  • $30 concessional (Certificate 3 Guarantee, Back to Work)
  • Full fee: $2,975 or $2,550 (concessional)

 

Are you Eligible for Government Funding?

Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  1. Queensland resident
  2. 15 years or older
  3. Not enrolled in school (excluding School students completing VET)
  4. Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants) OR a temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency
  5. Not enrolled in/has not completed Certificate III level and/or higher qualification.

(This does not include qualifications completed at school and/or foundations skills training)

If you already hold a Certificate III or above, you may still be eligible to access Back to Work funding as it is available for students that have already completed qualifications in Australia (certain criteria applies).

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, as per the CHC Community Services Training Package. It is recommended that you:

  • Have sufficient language, literacy, and numeracy skills
  • Have access to a computer
  • Have basic computing skills
  • Be able to obtain a Blue Card
  • Be at least 15 years of age
